If you own a business, chances are that you already have a Facebook page or even an Instagram account to promote your brand. These social media accounts are usually the first ones to be created by any business owner, which makes sense as they are the ones with the largest audiences.
Almost anyone with internet access nowadays has a Facebook or Instagram page, so no matter who you are trying to reach, those networks are often a safe bet. However, if you want to share more about your brand’s business and showcase your technical expertise, then LinkedIn is the way to go.
Before creating a LinkedIn page for your business, you should be clear about the type of content you are going to post. Why? Because the content you post on other accounts may not be appropriate for LinkedIn as people there are looking for more professional and serious posts than on Facebook or Instagram, for example.
With that in mind, here are a few guidelines for sharing your business on LinkedIn:
1. First of all, do you really need a LinkedIn page?
Assess what benefits it might bring to your company and if it really makes sense for your business area to have an account.
You should also should consider the amount of time you will have to spend creating content as well as think about the frequency of the posts and what type of posts you will be creating. If you think you have enough time to allocate to this task and know what you will be posting, then go ahead and create your page!
2. Create meaningful content.
As I mentioned above, LinkedIn is quite different from other social networks. When creating content for this platform, you should avoid funny GIFs or memes as this is a more professional network.
That does not mean you should completely change your brand’s personality and tone of voice but rather that you should not post everything that you post on other networks. For example, LinkedIn is a great way to share your company’s job openings, as well as its achievements, product details and blog posts.
3. Interact with others.
Finally, you should also use your LinkedIn page to create new connections and interact with other companies or people. If you see a post that inspires you or that you find interesting, make sure to leave a compliment or ‘like’ that post. This will not only create possible synergies but it is also a great way to be noticed and get more followers on your account. If you are hiring, it may also be a good idea to contact possible candidates who you think could be a good fit via LinkedIn because that is a more personal and direct way to connect with them and show them your interest.
